When Accented Glory was asked to be a featured designer for Gods and Goddesses African Fashion Show, I was very excited! The host originally reached out to me for our head wrap designs, but I decided to also create attire. This was my first time designing clothes and it was a welcomed challenge. I started the process by researching African fashion. I learned about different types of fabric, the meaning of colors/color combinations and symbols on the fabric. After doing my research, I had to find the perfect fabric for my designs. Purchasing authentic African fabric was very important to me and I found exactly what I was looking for at tessworlddesigns.com. My designs included a dashiki dress, wide leg pants, and long pleated skirt. I also created jewelry and head wraps to accessorize the attire. My mom and I spent a full day creating and sewing the designs. I love my tribe; I couldn't have pulled it off without her. The actual fashion show was a fast pace experience; runway shows move very quickly. My mom came through again and assisted with getting my models dressed. Unfortunately, I was only able to get a few good pictures of my models. Through this experience, I discovered a new love for creating clothing designs. I truly enjoyed the entire process. Seeing my designs on the models was so rewarding and I look forward to doing it again! Click new designs to view and purchase the designs we created for show.
